Tiritiri Matangi Island

Tiritiri Matangi is an Island in the Auckland Hauraki Gulf which has been part of an ecological restoration plan since 1984.
One of my lecturers, Mel Galbraith, has been involved with the restoration from the beginning. Its since been awarded one of the top 25 successful restoration projects in Australiasia! It homes many of New Zealands native flora and fauna.
I'm quite passionate about this type of work and hope that one day I will be able to work on a similar project anywhere in the world.
We went there for a class trip in my 1st year, I loved it, its so beautiful, is a great display of what northern New Zealand forests should be like (without the pests of course!)

A few friends and I have been thinking about staying there for a weekend coming up, they have a bunkhouse you can stay in, leaving you to wonder the island whenever you like! We were also thinking about asking DoC if there was any work they wanted done, like some tracking or even just searching for litter
.I really hope we stay motivated about this idea and go through with it!

Most of the photos are self-taken, the bottom three I've just googled to show some of the species on the island. The 4th one down is the Bellbird, 5th is the South Island Takahe (the north island version is extinct), 6th is the Tuatara (from the days of the dinosaurs) and 6th is the North Island Kaka (a parrot!).

Crazy Cat Lady

An awesome photoshoot I found on http://papermode.trendland.net/.
I think it shows the modern crazy cat lady! I'm fond of crazy cat ladies, sometimes I worry I could become one. The bottom picture is me with my cat Ash - do I look crazy?

Lace Obsession!

I am obsessed with white lace! I have about 4 white lace singlet tops and I would probably buy another if I found one I loved (and within my price range).
Does anyone else have this problem??

How amazing is the dress with the black belt from Topshop!

Arctic Fox

This is one of THE most beautiful animals!
It would be a dream of mine to see one inperson - not that I would want one captured purely for viewing.

Turkey!

I annoy many of my nearest and dearest with chatter about Istanbul, Turkey so I'm giving them a break (doesn't mean they're free from it!) and using this blog as another outlet.

My obsession with Istanbul started when I went there with my parents at age 14, but the defining time was when I was 17 and got excepted into AFS student exchange program... resulting in 6 months living in Istanbul!
It truly feels like a my second home, and there's so many amazing things about the city too which make me crazy about it!
btw - you may have noticed my blogs name 'Guzel things' has a turkish word in it. Guzel means beautiful.
Here's some of my favourite photos taken in Istanbul from my exchange in 2005/06.

Introduction

This is just a silly blog I created as a form of severe procrastination!
I would like to focus my blog posts on 3 things; travel, clothes, animals. And maybe some sneaky ones about cars and art. I don't claim to be an expert on any of these things but I hope its just a little bit interesting!

These are some of the things that I love

Travel:
My friends and I did a trip all over the show - this is one of our boozy days in LAS VEGAS - complete class.

Clothes:

(image thanks to http://thecoveted.blogspot.com)
I'll try and do photos with my favourite clothes as well as inspiration!

Animals:
For animals I'm more really intrigued with the wild type but this photo is super cute! It's of one of my nanny dogs, (Yes I'm a dog nanny (part-time)) Riot
